Fundraisers by Others Support NAMI

Members and friends are finding creative ways to help raise funds for NAMI Minnesota. From small to large, community fundraisers are an important source of revenue for NAMI's budget. Recent examples of DIY fundraisers are shown below.  Please see Do It Yourself Fundraiser Guidelines.

• The Minneapolis Hash House Harriers held their Red Dress Run and raised $1409.49 for NAMI.
• A University of Minnesota student hosted a dance fundraiser called TREAT mi RIGHT at Honey raising $1,105 for NAMI.
• The Health Kicks Foundation partnered with Kuk Sool Won of St. Paul, a martial arts school, to hold a Games for Charity event, and raised $541.92 for NAMI Minnesota.
• Sisyphus Brewing held a mental health fundraiser and donated $500 to NAMI.
• The University of Minnesota Asian American Student Union raised $472 for NAMI in addition to the funds they raised from their gala.
• Alliance Bank in St. Paul had a Blue Jeans Day for Charity fundraiser. A staff member nominated NAMI Minnesota as a recipient of the proceeds of $300.
• Dr. Mer hosted Shameless: A Mental Health Benefit held at The Garage in Burnsville raising $255.
• A group from St. Louis Park Middle School raised $195.
• Red Wing High School HOSA had a fundraising booth at River City Days, collecting $127.80 for NAMI and connecting visitors with NAMI’s resources.

Meets All Standards

The Charities Review Council, an independent organization that researches and reviews non-profit organizations in order to help Minnesotan's make informed giving decisions, held a review in the fall of 2015 and announced that NAMI Minnesota meets all Accountability Standards.

Note: NAMI Minnesota does not share donor information with any other entity. Membership data is only shared with the appropriate local affiliate and the National NAMI office. NAMI honors all requests to be removed from its mailing and solicitation lists.

Join NAMIWalks: The largest anti-stigma walk in Minnesota with thousands of participants each year - NAMIWalks Minnesota
Memorials and Tributes: Create a lasting remembrance of a loved one or honor a person or event. NAMI sends an acknowledgement to the family and does not add memorial donors to our mailing list without their permission.
Planned Gifts: Make a gift through bequest provisions in a will, gift annuities, transfer of real estate, marketable securities or a life income agreement, such as a charitable remainder trust or a life insurance policy.
Capital Gifts: Help fund new equipment and technologies.
Matching Gift Programs: Check your workplace to see if your employer matches contributions.
Special Programs: Support fund-raising initiatives aimed at making a difference through education for families and individuals. Such programs include Hope for Recovery, Family-to-Family, Progression, and African American Outreach.
Community Fund Drives: Contribute through your local United Way or other community fund drives and designate your donation by writing in NAMI Minnesota.

Giving Feature: Cookbook Supports NAMI

Andy’s Cheesecakes cookbook was created in memory and in tribute to Andrew Senn by his parents. Andrew lost his nine-year battle with bipolar disorder and addictions and died August 2, 2014 at age 39. NAMI Minnesota, where Andy worked at the time of his death and was a source of support and resources for him, has since become a favorite cause for Andy’s family. The cookbooks are $15, with 100 percent of the profits going to NAMI’s programs of education, support and advocacy.  To order, click here.

Ongoing Efforts Support NAMI

- A. Johnson and Sons Florists hosted a donor party for NAMI at their floral shop on Grand Avenue. NAMI gets 20% of your purchase if you mention NAMI Minnesota. Go to, call 651-698-6000, 800-959-8010, or visit 1738 Grand Avenue in St. Paul.
•  Realty Alliance, Inc. donates a portion of its commission to the non-profit organization of the buyer or seller's choice. A client named NAMI as their charity of choice and we received over $1,000.
• Stay at the Fillmore House B&B in Lanesboro for a weekend (Friday & Saturday night) and 10% of the room rate charges will be donated to NAMI. Remember to tell them you are a friend of NAMI at the time of booking. For information go to or call Brian at 651-269-7648.
