Governor Tim Pawlenty and Commissioner Cal Ludeman announced on Jan. 27 that state funding is available for the General Assistance Medical Care (GAMC) program until April 1. This means that eligible enrollees can continue on the program through March 31. GAMC program funding had been expected to end on March 1.
Except that the change will take place one month later, the process for current GAMC enrollees and new applicants to move to Transitional MinnesotaCare will be the same as that announced in November. The additional month of GAMC coverage is possible because program costs and enrollment have been lower than projected in the November forecast.
Additional information is in a news release and at www.dhs.state.mn.us/gamc/changes.
