May is Mental Health Month - Support is Available

During May is Mental Health Month, NAMI Minnesota (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and dozens of other organizations are involved in community education about mental illnesses, including creating awareness that effective treatments are available and that people can and do recover. NAMI Minnesota offers over 500 free educational classes and presentations statewide each year, along with help in navigating the mental health system. NAMI also has more than 70 free support groups for people living with a mental illness and their families. To reach NAMI Minnesota, call 651-645-2948 or go to namihelps.org.

NAMI will offer many classes during May, including a Super Saturday for Children's Mental Health on May 12. See Class Flyer.

NAMI's Walk a Mile in My "Shoe Days" will be held at schools throughout the month.

This May NAMI is also conducting a survey on the children's mental health system.

During May, Twin Cities Public Television (TPT MN) will air a series of programs on mental illness.
