Working to improve the lives of children and adults with mental illnesses and their families
May is Mental Health Month is almost here. Throughout the month NAMI Minnesota will continue sharing new podcasts of NAMI founders and leaders, offering classes for youth and families, providing In Our Own Voice and Creating Caring Communities presentations, and holding a Mental Health Bookfair on May 13 at the HarMar Barnes & Noble in Roseville.
NAMI also obtained a Minneapolis City Council resolution honoring national Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day on May 4. In recognition, the Lowry and 35W Bridges in Minneapolis will be lit up in Green from 5:00 p.m. on May 4 to 5:00 p.m. on May 5. Everyone can join in by wearing a green ribbon, or something Green during May to show your support!
Celebration of NAMI Minnesota’s 40th Anniversary will peak on May 6 at the Spring Gala, which will feature a NAMI SuperHeroes theme, live music, silent and live auctions and a fabulous dinner. NAMI SuperHeroes will be recognized and a short film will be shown recalling NAMI’s formation, early battles, persistent efforts, and determination to create change that lasts to this day.
