Family Support Groups

“After our daughter was diagnosed with schizophrenia we found NAMI. They gave us the support we needed when our world fell apart.”

Family support groups provide ongoing support for families and friends of persons living with a mental illness. Support groups are scheduled for the following locations and times. Please call the contact person listed for information. (For volunteer trainings to facilitate NAMI family support groups, click here.)

Brooklyn Center
7:00 p.m., meets the first Thursday of the month at Brooklyn United Methodist Church, 7200 Brooklyn Blvd (at Nobel). Contact Bob at 763-533-1729.

Daughters & Sons Support Group

Maple Grove, Daughters & Sons Support Group
NAMI Minnesota has a support group specifically for adults with a parent who lives or lived with a mental illness. The Daughters and Sons Support Group meets at the Maple Grove Library, 8001 Main Street North, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., on the third Tuesday of every month. Contact Jennifer Thomas at 612-845-6619.

Partners & Spouses Support Group

Minneapolis, Partners & Spouses Support Group
This group is for spouses, domestic partners, and people who share child-rearing responsibilities with a person who has mental illness. It is held on the 1st Friday of the month, from 6:30-8:30 p.m., at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church, 50th and Knox Ave. S., Room 394, in Minneapolis. St. Paul, Partners & Spouses Support Group
